Sarah Hurley’s Birthday Pop-Up Carnival Box Card
“For Create and Craft‘s birthday, I wanted to do something special for them, so I created them their own Carnival Pop-Up Box Card – which you can print out and make yourself! It also folds flat for you to pop into an envelope and send in the post.” – Sarah Hurley
You Will Need:
- Coordinating Coloured Card
- White Card to Print Onto (one A4 sheet, around 200gsm is perfect!)
- Double-Sided Tape
- Pinflair Gel Glue
- I’ve designed all of the elements to be fairly simple to cut by hand, so you won’t need any die-cutting machines for this one – just a Paper Trimmer and some Scissors!
How to Make a Pop-Up Carnival Box Card:
Cut out the tent panels with a paper trimmer (the top ones are for the top flaps of the card and the bottom ones are for the bottom).
Cut out the circus elements.
Create the box card template by cutting a piece of card to 9” x 6” and scoring it at 2.75” all along, from left to right. Down the length of the card, score at 2.75” – this is your centre fold.
Turn your card back around and cut along each of your folds. Your card should have a thin strip on the right-hand side – this is where you secure your card. You can cut the top piece away down to the centre line.
Using double-sided tape, secure your card into a box shape and fold down the top panels.
Cut two smaller pieces of card to 3” by around 0.5”. Fold at each edge and secure these inside the box, as shown.
Using double-sided tape, stick each panel onto its correct card flap.
Using strong Pinflair gel glue, secure each circus element in place (it’s best to lie the card down while doing this so they don’t slide at all).
Finally, embellish your card using the balloons, glitter, sparkles, or whatever you’d like!
We’d absolutely love to see your versions of this card, so please share them with us by leaving your blog links below, or share them on my Create and Craft Facebook page.
Happy Birthday, Create & Craft! – Sarah
