Christmas Pine Cone Craft Tutorial:
Begin by taking a plastic cup, and mixing one part PVA glue and one part white acrylic paint together.
Using a paintbrush and starting at the tip of the pine cone, coat about a third of the scales on the outside with the glue and paint mixture. Remember to protect your tabletop with a plastic sheet or some newspaper sheets… this can get a little messy!
Next, grab your tub of glitter, and sprinkle silver glitter over the scales of the pine cone, then tap off the excess. Repeat the process twice more so all the scales are coated.
Complete the messy part of the project by painting the base, sprinkling it with silver glitter, and then setting it aside to dry thoroughly.
Once dry, tie a length of baker’s twine into a loop, and glue this to the centre of the base to hang the pine cone up. You could hang these from shelves, above the fireplace, or create lots of them to add creativity and sparkle to the Christmas tree!
This is a fantastic craft to let the children have free rein with, creating their own sparkly decorations using foraged pine cones! If you need more ideas on how to keep them busy in the run-up to Christmas, check out the rest of our festive crafting projects and tutorials right here.
