This beautiful pendant and earrings set has been created by the talented Sarah Jackman-Read, and is perfect for adding a stunning handcrafted talking point to your outfit! Check out her step-by-step instructions below and learn exactly how to create your own beautiful ombre quilled jewellery, using just a few basic quilling techniques.
You Will Need:
- 4mm quilling papers in five different shades of your chosen colour
- Quilling tool
- Jewellery pliers
- 10mm jump rings
- earring hooks
Quilling Shapes Used:
- Coil – quill paper strip, unravel slightly to the desired size of circle, then glue the end in place.
- Tight coil – quill paper strip tightly, do not unravel then glue end in place.
- Teardrop – make a coil then pinch one end.
- Half moon – make a coil, pinch both ends then bend the ends upwards
Make a tight coil from a full strip of quilling paper in your first colour, then three from 10cm strips, and glue together. Make three teardrops from 15cm strips of paper in your second colour, then glue underneath.
Make three tight coils from full strips of your third colour then glue underneath the teardrops. Make three more teardrops from 20cm strips of your fourth colour, then glue under the tight coils.
Make three tight coils from full strips of your fifth colour then glue underneath the teardrops. Roll a tight coil from a 10cm strip in the same colour, then adhere to the bottom.
Make two 10cm tight coils in your fifth colour then glue in between the tight coils at the bottom. Make two more in your third colour then glue either side of the tight coils in the same colour. Attach a jump ring and earring hook to the top.
Make three tight rolls from full strips of quilling paper in your first colour then make six from 10cm strips. Make two teardrops from 15cm strips in the same colour, then glue together as shown.
Make three teardrops from full strips of your second colour and two from 15cm strips, then glue in place. Make four tight coils in full strips of your third colour and two from 15cm strips, then glue in between the tight coils.
Make three half moons from full strips in your fourth colour then glue underneath the teardrops.
Make three tight coils in full strips of your fifth colour then glue under the half moons. Make a tight coil from a 20cm strip and three from 6cm strips in the same colour, then glue underneath.
Attach jump rings to the tight coils either end at the top, then chop a chain necklace in half with jewellery pliers and attach the ends to the jump rings.
Once all your glue is dry, there’s nothing left to do but try on your stunning – and fully coordinated – ombre quilled jewellery, and admire your crafty workmanship!
