Here, our creative contributor Shabneez Khan-Muztar shows you how to get the most out of your embellishment drops in this gorgeous mixed media card tutorial. Check out her step-by-step tutorial below, and be inspired to think outside the box with your own craft stash!
Time to Make: 30-45 minutes
Skill Level: Intermediate
You Will Need:
- Nuvo Glitter Drops in Golden Sunset
- Nuvo Dream Drops
- Stamp Set
- Distress Oxide Inks in Worn Lipstick, Fossilized Amber and Spiced Marmalade
- Frame die
- Stencil
- Versamark Ink Pad
- White Embossing Powder
- Black Cardstock
Step-by-Step Card Tutorial:
Step 1:
Make a 5 x 7” card blank with black card. Heat emboss the main flower image from your stamp set, in white. This will give you the raised image that you will later be able to fill in with Nuvo Glitter Drops.
Step 2:
Place a stencil over the top of your embossed image and, with a spatula, add the Nuvo Dream Drops and spread through the stencil. Don’t worry if you get smudges through it, as it looks like a halo effect, and simply adds style to your creation!
Step 3:
Add Nuvo Glitter drops to the heat embossed flower, and leave to dry.
Step 4:
Once dry, use Distress Oxides with the other stamps, to form a background. Due to the chalky texture of Distress Oxides, they show up well on dark colours.
Step 5:
Die cut a frame from white card, and place around the flower image.
Step 6:
Heat emboss a sentiment in white, die cut, and add to the frame.
And there you have it – your bold and beautiful cardfront is finished, and bound to stand out from the crowd! Want to see more things you can do with Embellishment Drops? Check out our Top Tips on Using Tonic Nuvo Embellishment Drops right here!
