Say no more – we’ve got you covered with four super-simple yet super-effective autumn craft ideas from the talented Penelope Quinn. Check out how she uses metallic paint to transform simply supplies into chic must-haves!
You Will Need:
Falling Autumn Leaf Wall Decor:
Create this gorgeous wall decor with just a handful of leaves (you can either forage them from the garden, or buy some crafty decorative paper or fabric leaves!) some metallic thread, and metallic paints in gold, silver and bronze. Take a length of your metallic thread, and attach two or three co-ordinating leaves along it, approximately 10cm apart. Repeat this as many times as you wish (how big is the wall you’d like to decorate?!) and once you have multiple strings created, hang them from a single decorative bar, dowel or stick to create your statement wall decor!
For added glamour, add flashes of glitter to the centre of each painted leaf, and this decoration will stand the test of time from the very beginnings of autumn, right through to the glitz and glam of your New Year celebrations, no problem!
Metallic Autumn Wreath:
Now here’s an eye-catching way to let your neighbours know you mean business this autumn – a fall wreath with a difference! Add instant drama to your front door with this bold and beautiful metallic fall wreath. You can decorate foraged or decorative leaves in exactly the same way as you did for the leafy wall hanging, but instead of threading your leaves, grab yourself a glue gun and attach them en masse to a wire wreath to create this show-stopper of a project.
Finish off your metallic fall wreath with a simple yet sophisticated hessian strip tied in a bow, for a rustic finishing touch.
DIY Rustic Candle Holders:
Don’t put away that glue gun – here’s another simple yet brilliant craft for bringing the autumnal outdoors inside this season. Begin by taking yourself on a foraging expedition – we love any excuse for a Sunday afternoon stroll through the woods! Whilst you’re enjoying the autumn sunshine, take a bag and fill it with any twigs or sticks that dot your path… you’ll need plenty! Once you get home, set them aside on a sunny windowsill and leave them to dry.
Transform them from drab to fab with some metallic paint, and leave them to dry once more. Then take your glue gun and a simple glass jar, and get sticking! Adhere them around the jar, using sticks of varying lengths for a gorgeous, rustic look.
Why carve your pumpkin… when you can glam it up?! Pumpkin painting is all the rage this year, and we just love these gorgeous metallic pumpkins. Use a mix of gold, silver and copper across multiple pumpkins to create a dazzling window display, or a doorstep that’ll really wow trick or treaters!
