How to Make a Personalised Apron:
Depending on how you prefer to work, either open or create your BestChef file within Brother Canvas Workspace, or on your machine.
If you have chosen to create your file within Canvas, transfer the file to your machine, or export it via a USB or cable (non wifi enabled machines.)
To locate your file, on your machine, select retrieve data.
Select the appropriate method you used to transfer.
To use the file again in the future, without having to transfer it again, select to save the file.
Stick your iron-on glitter to your ScanNCut mat, glitter side up. I am using a low track mat but a standard will also be ok. Load your mat into your machine using the mat feed button.
Recall your BestChef file. If you wish to create your design out of different colours of iron on glitter, select to edit your file…
… and delete the images that you will later cut from a different colour.
Press ‘OK’ to exit this screen and select the scan option to scan what is currently on your mat.
Now you have a clear image of the size of the iron-on glitter sheet; to edit your file so it fits within the sheet size, select the edit button.
Select the 3 red squares, and then the ‘everything on your mat’ button as indicated.
Press ‘OK’, then select the object edit button.
Group the items using the button indicated.
Now select the resize button…
… and resize as necessary.
Once you are happy with the size, select the ‘OK’ button twice to get you to the option screen.
Select to cut out the design.
And hit ‘Start’.
Peel the design away from you mat. Repeat steps 8 through 19 for your different colours of the design.
Iron your apron, at a temperature suitable for the fabric type, being careful to protect your work surface.
Position your design, glitter side up, on to your apron. You can use a ruler to ensure the letters are straight.
Iron the design in place using the coolest setting on your iron, with no steam.
Carefully peel away the protective layer, leaving just the glitter on the fabric.
To finish, align and iron the rest of your design, each colour in turn.
And there it is – a totally awesome personalised gift for Mum – or whoever the best chef in your house is! The design options are endless with this gorgeous glitter… professional quality personalised gifts are now accessible to everyone!
