How To Make Paper Birds
First, screw up bits of scrap paper so you have a ball around the size of a child’s fist, and a smaller ball for the head. Wrap these pieces together with masking tape.
Next, cut a tail and two wings out of cardboard. Stick these to the bird using more masking tape.
Tear off small pieces of scrap paper, and stick these onto the bird using an equal parts PVA glue and water mix.
Leave to dry overnight. Once they are rock hard, use a pin to make two small holes in the bottom, big enough to fit the wire. Cover the end of the wire with a bit of glue, and stick into the bottom of the bird.
Now it’s time to paint! Decorate your birds however you like; you may need two or three coats of paint for an opaque effect.
Bend the wire legs into little feet the bird can stand on, and cover with florist tape.
Tip: If you don’t have florist tape, you could cover with masking tape and simply paint green.
Leave to dry and you’re all done. Stand your newly decorated little friends on the windowsill… and see if any of their real-life feathered muses stop by to investigate!
