But where does House of Alistair‘s creator, Alistair Macdonald, find his inspiration? Find out from the man himself!

“Growing up as a ‘wee’ boy on the Isle of Bute in Scotland, some of my earliest memories are of sitting with my Gran Maisie at her Singer sewing machine, and happily turning the wheel. My love of ‘making’ and utilising buttons and scraps of fabric had been born!

“After studying fashion design at Central St Martins in London, I started my own business six years ago. As well as my work in ladies fashion, a love of Liberty fabric has fuelled my imagination to design and create a range of haberdashery products and gifts. House of Alistair has been designing and manufacturing in London since 2009, with our workshops located in the East End of London. We hand-make a wide range of original haberdashery consumables and gifts, all using Liberty Art fabrics.”

  • Hi,
What is your Angel policy regarding using your patterns and templates and materials to sell for charity/fund raising for a cause and personal gain. I have searched for this information without success.

    • I purchased a Hot Water Bottle Cover Kit some time ago and have now just gotten round to sewing it. I just cannot get my head round this: “with a ruler chalk diagonal lines at 45 degree angles at the short ends of the pressed tie. These will form shaped tips to the finished tie. Cut along chalked line to remove the excess fabric” It would help if you had had a photo of the back part of the finished cover to enable a visible view of it. I would be very pleased to hear from you. Many thanks.
