How to Make a Trifold Shutter Card [with Free Template]
With the sun shining and the temperature soaring, this summer has been all about fun-filled days out at the beach. Keep the beach-themed fun going when you’re back indoors, with Shabneez Khan-Muztar’s handmade Trifold Shutter Card project. Featuring beach huts, bunting, and rubber rings, this seaside-themed trifold card would make a great 3D birthday card (for all ages!) or greeting card for other special occasions.

Use the template to score the lines shown in green, then cut along the red lines. I found it easier to use a ruler and craft knife but you can use scissors.
Tip: Although the template is for a 12×12 sheet of card, you can use an A4 sheet using the same template without any trouble.
Once cut and folded, your sheet of card should look like this.
Cover the card template with papers. I have used the Trimcraft Beach Life Collection.
Add a strip of washi tape to both the left and right-hand side edges.
Cut 3 rectangles that are 6cm x 9cm out of blue card.
Attach the rectangles in the centre of each part of the card as shown.
Fussy cut the bunting from another sheet of paper and stick to the top of the card all the way along, creasing along the folds.
Fussy cut the rubber rings from one sheet of the paper.
Make up the decoupage beach hut using steps 2 onwards (this also means you get a topper left over for another card!).
Layer the rubber rings cut out and the beach hut, finishing with a ‘Happy Birthday’ sentiment.
For the middle rectangle, cut out a strip from one of the beach hut papers and adhere.
For the right-hand rectangle, add another of the fussy cut rubber rings and one of the wooden beach hut embellishments with a sentiment stuck on.
Add gems to finish the card.
When you’re not enjoying the summer sun, why not try your hand at crafting this trifold card yourself? With the template included, there’s nothing stopping you from crafting this card again and again in your own creative designs!
