Soap Making At Home with Sarah Cawood
So, a few years ago, I went on a soap making course. It was wonderful… but it was slightly intimidating – what with curing and chemicals and pH levels. I have never done it since! This soap, however, involves none of the complicated stuff and is totes Instagram-worthy. It’s easy to do, effective, and best of all, would make a great gift. (I’ve def. got one eye on homemade Christmas gifts now!)
So, you’ll need a couple of hours, a way of heating your soap (hob or microwave) and this stuff:
- 1kg Clear melt and pour soap base
- Some environment and skin friendly iridescent glitter
- Essential oil of your choice if you wish to fragrance your geode soap
- Some purple cosmetic mica powder or soap dye
- Some activated charcoal (I used some old teeth whitening charcoal powder I had lurking in my bathroom cabinet)
- Oven rack to cool and dry your soap on
- Microwave-able bowl
- Tongs
I’ve put all the instructions in the photos so you can see exactly how to do it as you go along, but I found it deceptively easy!
It’s probably best to wrap your freshly made soap in greaseproof paper after you’ve made it, until it hardens off completely, as it may still be slightly tacky.
Enjoy showing off your make to all your friends on social media: GO YOU!
