The world of weddings was shaken by the arrival of the 2020 pandemic – so many couples were forced to cancel or postpone their big days, whilst others opted to shrink the event to a micro wedding, in order to still go ahead and tie the knot. With smaller more intimate weddings ever growing in popularity, the talented Penelope Quinn has compiled a list of crafty garden wedding ideas you can try your hand at to add a little creativity to your day, and help you celebrate with your favourite people in style.

Wedding Wall Display:

Transform a large frame into an attractive display for all your photos, simply by spray painting a large frame gold (you can buy these from thrift stores for not much money at all!)

Tie some twine on the back, and hang photos with small pegs. You could also leave a Polaroid camera out for people to take photos on the big day! Finish with a sign.

Wishing Tree:

Make this simple wishing tree by crafting tags from brown kraft card, then applying gold leaf to the ends. Ask your guests to write a wish for your future!

DIY Confetti Cones:

Wrap a square piece of burlap into a cone, and secure with a hot glue gun. Create some leaf confetti with a hole punch (I recommend using large green leaves). Finish with rosemary, secured with fine gold wire. It’s an environmentally friendly way for your guests to celebrate your nuptials!

Personalised Table Centrepiece:

Cut a heart shape out of sticky-back plastic, and stick to your jar. Give the jar a coat of gold spray paint and, while it’s wet, coat with biodegradable white and gold glitter to give a gradient effect. When it’s dry, peel off the heart, and place a photo of the happy couple inside. Place a battery powered light behind the photo for a lovely personalised centrepiece.

Handcrafted Button Holes:

Create your own buttonholes with some paper from an old book! Simply cut paper into a spiral, bend a piece of florist wire in half, and cover the end in double sided tape.

Then start wrapping your coil; start with the end and keep wrapping until you reach the middle of the coil.
