Father’s Day Clay Craft: Make A Quirky Desk Tidy

Step 1:

First measure your tin, as this will be our guide. Next, roll out your clay to around half a cm thick.

Cut out a rectangle the same size as your tin. Also cut around the bottom of the tin to make a circle.

Step 2:

Wrap baking paper around the tin, and start to roll this over the rectangle of clay, sealing each end by making scores in each piece of clay, and fusing together with your fingers and some water.

Step 3:

Place the circle of clay on the bottom, and fuse in the same way.

Step 4:

Next, create a nose out of air dry clay, and fuse this to the cup making scores on each piece of clay, and gluing together with a paste of clay and water.

Step 5:

Cut out two holes using a cookie cutter on the top rim as shown – this will be where we will place the glasses.

Step 6:

Wait 24 – 48 hours until completely dry, and then give a light sand to remove any irregularities.

Step 7:

Create geometric patters by covering sections with painters tape, and painting in different colours. Wait for each colour to dry before applying the next.

Finished project
