Time it Takes to Make: 3 – 4hrs
Skill level: Beginner
You Will Need:
- Embroidery thread in autumn colours
- Embroidery hoop
- Embroidery needles
- Fabric 9” x 9’
- Free pattern [DOWNLOAD HERE]
- Erasable fabric marker
- Scissors
- Twine
- Glue gun
Step 1:
Print out the pattern and trace onto the centre of your fabric with an erasable fabric pen; if you have trouble seeing it, use a light tablet. Practise the Satin and Back stitch as shown on the template sheet.
Step 2:
Place the fabric into an embroidery hoop.
Step 3:
For the body of the images, I have used a Satin stitch, and on top – for the detail parts – I have used a straight or back stitch.
Step 4:
Remove the fabric from the hoop and iron out any pattern marks.
Step 5:
Before placing it back in to the hoop, draw around your hoop on to some felt, and cut out. Now put your piece back into the hoop and ensure that it is taught.
Step 6:
Trim off the overhanging fabric so that there is enough to adhere this to the inner hoop.
Use a glue gun to adhere to the inner hoop, and then adhere the felt back to the back of the hoop to hide the back of the stitches.
Step 7:
Hang using some twine, and admire your new crafty home decor!
