Brighten Up Your Look With Our Rainbow Macrame Earrings
Brighten up any outfit in an instant with these gorgeous rainbow macrame earrings. Check out Devon Coverdale’s step-by-step tutorial below, and learn how to create your own pair of DIY earrings that will add colour and style to any ensemble.
You Will Need:
- 4 Skeins of embroidery thread
- Approx 2m macrame cord
- 2 x Decorative wooden beads
- Jewellery pliers
- 2 x Wire hook earring bars and fixings
- Glue gun or sewing needle and thread
Cut 16 x 10cm lengths of macrame cord and separate into sets of 2 x 10cm lengths.
Take the first skein and, using a wrapping knot, bind the coloured thread around the 2 lengths leaving approximately 2cm loose on each end.
Repeat step 2 with the 3 remaining coloured skeins. Each coloured section will need to be slightly shorter each time to match up the ends of the rainbow in a straight line.
Trim the loose coloured ends.
Top Tip: Test out the curve of the rainbow as you go along to work out how long each set of cord needs to be bound in the embroidery thread.
Stack and secure the 4 coloured lengths in a rainbow curve – you can use a hot glue gun or needle and thread.
Using the jewellery pliers, attach the bead on top of the rainbow.
Again, using the pliers, attach the earring bars to the bead.
Unravel the loose macrame cord ends and brush out if you want a more fluffed product.
Now your gorgeous rainbow macrame earrings are complete, there’s nothing left to do but try them on! Use them to add instant glam to to the simplest of outfits, and wear your handiwork with pride.
