DIY Fall Decor: How to Make a Light-Up Leaf Garland
With the transition from summer to autumn, comes a crafty craving for all things homely. After months of long bright evenings, weekends spent in the garden, and get-togethers spent around the barbecue, autumn brings with it the opportunity to hunker down indoors and get well and truly snuggled up. But what does this mean for crafting? First, we now have plenty of time to get creative! Evenings indoors open up oodles of opportunity to get creative, whether it’s crocheting a new project in front of the telly, or settling into your craft room with a mug of something hot, and a head full of exciting ideas! And second, gorgeous home decor projects come into their own… if you’re going to spend so much time indoors, it may as well look gorgeous in there, right? Which is why we just love DIY fall decor crafts- and this pretty light-up leaf garland is a great project to start with. DIY Fall Decor Project Tutorial:
Skill Level: Easy
You Will Need:
- LED Fairy Lights
- Red, Yellow and Orange Felt
- Leaf template (draw around your favourite leaf on white card!)
- Embroidery thread (red, yellow, orange)
- Embroidery needle
- Glue gun
Trace your leaf template onto the felt, and cut out 4 in each colour.
Use matching embroidery thread to suggest the veins of 2 of the leaves in each colour.
Use your glue gun to attach an embroidered leaf to a plain leaf. Leave a gap at the top to fit your fairy lights.
Insert your fairy light into your leaf, and use a few small stitches so it holds.
And that’s it, your gorgeous autumnal leaf garland is complete, and now you can add beautiful DIY fall decor to your home in an instant. With so many beautiful ways to display this pretty craft project, you might want to create a couple…
