DIY Hen Party T-Shirts for Your Bride Tribe
DIY Hen Party T-Shirts Tutorial
First, print out your pattern and trace onto the waxed paper. Carefully cut out using a pen knife or a ScanNCut.
Take a piece of card and lay it underneath your shirt. Now put a piece of baking paper between the shirt and cardboard – this will stop the shirt getting stuck to the cardboard when you emboss. Secure with pegs – you want the materials to be tight and firm, but not too stretched.
Lay a piece of paper on top of your wax paper and iron on very low heat. This will make the wax paper stick to the shirt. Make sure there are no gaps that the embossing powder can get into!
Tip: If you are finding it hard to get the wax paper to stick to the shirt, peel it off and try a very light spray of adhesive spray. You can also use baking paper and adhesive spray if you can’t find wax paper!
Lay your Bride Tribe wax paper on top, and apply a generous layer of Mod Podge in the cut-out sections.
Tip: Do one word at a time so the Mod Podge doesn’t dry too quickly.
Take some paper and place around your stencil so you don’t get embossing powder all over your shirt.
Apply a generous layer of embossing powder on each letter. I attached a lid that allowed me to shake out the embossing powder in a more controlled way – make sure each letter is completely covered. Let set for at least 15 minutes.
When you’ve covered both words and the arrow, shake off the excess embossing powder into another sheet of paper so you can reuse it.
Use your heat gun to transform the embossing powder, go slowly over each letter and stay about 10cm away from the shirt so you don’t burn it.
Leave for a few minutes to cool, and slowly peel off to reveal the design for your hen party T-shirt.
