Heart Wreath Tutorial:
Wire wreaths come in different shapes and sizes; some are quite narrow and some quite wide. The size and thickness really doesn’t matter for this project – once you have your wire wreath base and all your other materials to hand, you are ready to begin!
Tear the wreath fabric into three strips, wrap around the wire ring and glue the ends to secure. As you’ve torn the fabric the edges will fray, giving you that ‘shabby chic’ look!
Cut out 14 elongated hearts, sew wrong sides together in pairs, leaving a gap in one straight side of about 3cm.
Scrub the edges with a brush to fray.
Push a little toy filler into the gap, tweezers may help!
Sew the opening closed on your sewing machine. Cut the ribbon into eight pieces, tie each into a bow. Glue or hand sew to the top of each heart.
Repeat with the remaining fabric to create seven elongated hearts.
Thread the hanging cord through the back of the wreath and knot.
Place the hearts evenly around the wreath and mark their positions. Hand sew or glue each heart in place.
Complete the circle.
Make up one of the rounder hearts in the same way as the previous seven elongated hearts.
place over the centre of the wreath and glue to the points of the elongated hearts – and you gorgeous heart wreath is complete!
