Crochet Hand Sanitizer Holder Pattern
Top Tip: As the spiral method is used (no joining with a ss or making 1ch to start round), place a stitch marker or piece of yarn at the beginning of the first round and move it up every row.
Pattern Instructions:
Make an adjustable slip knot and ch15
Rnd 1: 1dc into second ch from the hook. 1dc in each of remaining 13ch across (14dc)
Rnd 2: Keeping right side facing you, bring the first dc around to meet the last dc as shown below, to make a circle and work 1dc. Place row marker here as this is now the start point of the round. (6dc, 2dcinc) twice (16dc)
Rnd 3: (7dc, 2dcinc) twice (18dc)
Rnd 4: (8dc, 2dcinc) twice (20dc) Place a marker in the middle of each 2dinc. This indicates the sides of the holder when flattened.
Rnd 5-19: Dc in every stitch around (20dc)
Flatten work to shape sides indicated by markers
Rnd 20: Make as many dcs as necessary to finish at the right hand side. I made 4dc.
(Make 7ch and ss into base of last dc) repeat 3 times. Work 10dc across the front of the holder and (make 7ch and ss into base of last dc) repeat 3 times.
Complete the round by working 10dc to side fold. TURN to continue working in rows.
Row 21-24: 1ch, 10dc across
Row 25: dc2tog, 6dc, dc2tog (8dc)
Row 26: dc across
Row 27: dc2tog, 4dc, dc2tog (6dc)
Row 28: dc2tog, 2dc, dc2tog (4dc)
Row 29: (dc2tog) twice (2dc)
Row 30: make 4 ch and ss into last stitch. Fasten off and sew in end.
Finishing:
At the very beginning of Row 1, using tail of yarn, sew up small gap at start of round and secure in end.
Fold head piece over and mark position for toggle beak, and sew in place.
Sew buttons to head piece for eyes.
Now the project is complete, simply attach a key ring hoop to the top side feathers, and clip your crochet hand sanitizer holder to your bag, or belt loop – ready for quick and easy access whenever you need it.
