Time to Make: 30 minutes per sock approximately
Skill Level: Confident Beginner
You Will Need:
- Caron Simply Soft ‘Paints’ Aran yarn (used here in colour Sunset Autumn)
- 5mm crochet hook
- Stitch Marker
- Yarn Needle
- adjustable slip knot = magic ring
- ch = chain
- ss = slip stitch
- dc = double crochet
- 2dcinc = 2 double crochet into next stitch
- tr = treble crochet
- dtr = double treble crochet
Top Tip: As the spiral method is used (no joining with a ss or making 1ch to start round), place a stitch marker at the beginning of the first round and move it up every row.
Crochet Chair Socks Pattern:
Make an adjustable slip knot and ch2 (turning ch)
Rnd 1: 6dc into first ch.
Tighten slip knot.
From the hook (not including stitch on hook) count back 6dc to ensure you use the correct st to start the next row and avoid using the turning ch. Place stitch marker through stitch on hook.
Rnd 2: 2dcinc in every stitch around (12dc) move marker to st on hook
You may need to tighten the slip knot again and once round 4 is complete, you will be able to sew this in and secure.
Rnd 3: (2dc, 2dcinc) around (16dc)
Rnd 4: (3dc, 2dcinc)n around (20dc)
Rnd 5-20: dc around
Rnd 21: Make Fan – miss 2dc, 7dtr in next stitch, miss 2dc, 1dc in next st, ss in next st, fasten off. Sew in end.
Cut 5 lengths of yarn, each one 20cm long.
Fold in half and put hook through 4th dtr of fan, and pull loop through. Then place the ends left through that loop and pull tight.
Trim ends to make them even.
Now all that’s left to do, is repeat the pattern, until you’ve enough socks to dress your table, chairs, and any other furniture that’s got cold feet this winter!
