Chunky Crochet Throw Cushion Tutorial:
Side 1:
Row 1: Start with a magic circle. Ch 3, tr x8 into ring. Ss into 3rd ch st. Pull tail of magic ring tight to close the centre circle. (8 sts + ch)
Row 2: Ch 3, 2tr in next 8 sts. Tr in ch of row 1. (17 sts + ch)
Row 3: Ch 3, *1tr in next st, 2tr in next st* repeat * to * 8 times, tr in next st, tr in top of ch of row 2. (26 sts + ch). Fasten off with an invisible join.
Side 2:
Repeat as for side 1.
Joining the Sides:
Place the crocheted sides with wrong sides together. Cut a length of yarn and, using your hands, thread it through one of the stitches of one of the cushion edges. Leave a short tail. Using the other end, weave it through one of the stitches on the second cushion side. Feed the yarn back through the next stitch on the first side and back through the next stitch on the second side, creating a sort of whip stitch.
Continue until you have joined about 2/3 of the edges. Slip the cushion pad into the opening yet to be stitched.
Continue weaving the yarn through the stitches until you reach where you started and the cushion pad is fully enclosed inside. Tie the two ends in a knot and cut off any excess, leaving a short tail of approx. 10-15cm. Push the tails and knot inside the crochet cushion cover so they can’t be seen.
Your chunky crochet cushion is complete and ready to add instant snug-factor to your sofa, bed or armchair… and now you know how easy it is to create, you could always crochet a couple more to add serious Hygge-factor to your home, this winter!
