Special Memories Treasure Jar

Remember both the extraordinary events and happy little moments of 2016 with this cute little project by Colette Smith for PaperCrafter magazine.

Easy and fun to create, this jar holds all your memories for you to look back on at a later date. It’s great to make for yourself or for a friend. Present it empty for them to fill, or pop in some of your favourite times you’ve shared together.

Preserve jar
Patterned paper

Computer and printer
Label die
Hole punch

  1. Unscrew the lid from a small preserve jar. Remove the flat inner part and cover with floral paper. Allow to dry. Print ‘Memories of 2016’ onto white card and cut out with a label die. Stick onto a larger floral label, then fix to the front of the jar.
  2. Cut out flowers from assorted papers and use a hole punch to create discs for their centres. Stick the blooms across the side of the jar and on the label. Screw the lid onto the jar, wrap ribbon around it and tie in a bow.
  3. Cut small rectangles of white paper and write memories on them. Roll up and secure with twine, then pop in the jar. If making the project as a gift, you may wish to leave this step to the recipient.

Tip: use a skewer or knitting needle to help roll up the small pieces of paper
