Crafting Trends: Back To Nature With Tattered Lace

Crafting Trends: Back To Nature With Tattered Lace

The elegance and asymmetry of nature has inspired us in a big way this winter.  It’s visible in home decor trends that have embraced woven lampshades, jute rugs, houseplants, and natural wood… and it’s trickled into the crafting industry too.

Subdued colour palettes of soft creams, earthy browns, pastel blues and pale grays complement designs that focus on hidden worlds – undergrowth, overgrowth, vines, blooms and insects… they’re everywhere right now.

But Why Are We So Keen To Bring The Outdoors Inside This Season?

Perhaps it’s because we crave a reconnection with the natural world, at a time of year when it’s often too dark to even see our own gardens by the time we return home from work. Or maybe it’s a subconscious rebellion against the age of technology. We spend so long pushing buttons and staring at screens… the natural beauty of flora and fauna provide a very welcome respite from it all.

Whatever the reason, we know we can’t get enough of nature-inspired crafts right now. And if you’re feeling the same, you’ll love this beautiful Tattered Lace card project…

You Will Need:

Step 1:

Using the Round Fancy Labels die set, cut No. 17 from folded white cardstock to create a shaped tent card.

Step 2:

Using the Round Fancy Labels die set, cut No. 17 from blue cardstock, and cut No. 17 and No. 15 together from brown cardstock. Mat together using foam pads, and mat onto the card.

Step 3:

Using the Nature Trails Collection die set, cut a variety of plants such as the Poppy, Wheat Branch and Branch dies from teal, blue and brown cardstock. Mat onto the card, tucking the stems under the brown label frame.

Step 4:

Using the Nature Trails Collection die set, cut Butterfly 3 from teal cardstock and Butterfly 4 from blue and brown cardstock. Mat together, add glitter, and mat onto the card with foam pads.

And there you have it – a simple yet sophisticated Nature Trail card that will bring the beauty of the great outdoors to your mantelpiece!
