Unlike our own New Year celebrations, the Chinese New Year is based on the lunar calendar – and this year, the festivities begin on Friday, February 16th. Chinese families will gather together for dinner on New Year’s Eve, and ensure their houses are well swept and cleaned, so there’s no bad fortune cluttering up the place on New Year’s Day!
